"Writing about people helps us to understand them, and understanding them helps us to accept them as part of ourselves.” Alice Walker
A Writing Tool
I'm about to start editing my third novel, and I just revisited The Artful Edit, by Susan Bell. This practical book looks at editing from both a big picture and a detailed perspective. I also found it inspirational, and who doesn't need a little inspiration when editing?
Craft Tip
Find photos (it's easy online) of people who look like your characters. It helps you picture them, and allows you to really understand the exact color of their eyes, skin, hair color, etc., while your imagination fills in the rest of the story.
